Katie and her family relaxing together at home.

Hi, I’m Katie.

I’m a former teacher turned stay-at-home mom, raising two little kids with my husband, Danny, while renovating a very old house in my hometown of Bexley, Ohio.

Held Together started as a place for me to write about motherhood and the life I was building after leaving the classroom. Somewhere along the way, it also became the place where I share our renovation, the things I’m obsessing over for our house, and whatever else is taking up entirely too much space in my brain.

Basically: life, motherhood, home, design, marriage, and figuring it all out as we go.

A little more about me

I spent 15 years in education before leaving the classroom to stay home with my kids. These days, life looks a lot different—preschool drop-offs, nap schedules, renovation meetings, writing whenever I can find a pocket of time, and approximately 47 tabs open about wallpaper.

We moved back to my hometown of Bexley after nearly a decade in Chicago and bought an old Georgian that we’re slowly making ours. I love traditional interiors, old houses, blue and white anything, a good antique, and researching a purchase to a completely unreasonable degree.

I write about the parts of life I’m actually living: motherhood, marriage, leaving a career I loved, creating a home, and figuring out who I am in the middle of all of it.
